About Us
Who We Are
We’re located in Memphis, Tennessee. Our mission is to end homelessness for Memphis’ most vulnerable population by providing housing and supportive services one Door at a time.
Our approach to ending homelessness in Memphis focuses on providing not just housing to Memphis’ most vulnerable population, but also supportive services, which are critical to ensuring our Guests remain off the streets and are able to live securely in their own apartment or in one of our three facilities.
Our vision is to create a better Memphis by helping the homeless in Memphis open doors to a better life. Incorporated in 2005 as a Tennessee non-profit, Door of Hope grew out of a 2003 ad-hoc movement of concerned individuals to address the growing population of men and women who were without housing in the Midtown section of Memphis. In 2006, Door of Hope became tax-exempt, and is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) entity.
Who We Serve
Door of Hope works to end homelessness for vulnerable populations, particularly those living with serious mental illnesses, substance use disorders, and/or chronic health conditions. We also serve survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and/or stalking.
We believe that housing is right! Even if an individual has a negative rental history or unfavorable background or repeatedly falls short of meeting the goals they set for themselves, we do not give up on them. Our goal is to help clients achieve their highest possible potential for independence, self-determination, and personal responsibility.
